As per the Consumer Reports, Verizon iPhone 4 also has the same signal dropping issue as seen in the AT&T iPhone 4. According to the report, the call drops issue does not allow to place calls upon holding the Verizon iPhone 4 in a specific yet natural way by covering its external casing. After tenacious reports about the AT&T iPhone 4, remarking a similar issue in Verizon handset, is quite disappointing.

Though the complaints against the Verizon iPhone 4 were very few, specific tests conducted on the signal strength of this handset indicate a clear drop of signal reception and performance upon holding it at the range of locations around its edges. Placing finger near the lower-left-side gap drops the signals drastically says the reports, which depict that the phone’s signal-strength meter is at levels of around one bar in the handset. These specific tests conducted by test engineers in controlled environment also project that the signal performance of iPhone 4 decreases rapidly when compared to its competitors – Samsung Fascinate; Motorola Droid 2 Global; HTC Droid Incredible; LG Ally and Motorola Droid X. However, the bumpers provided by the company and cases from other manufacturers would eliminate the problem.

Verizon iPhone 4 has great voice quality compared to the AT&T version, but you cannot surf Internet while placing a voice call. In spite of many other tremendously powerful features, Verizon iPhone 4, Consumer Reports might not include it in their top recommended Smartphones due to the network related issues. Even Apple has stopped reimbursing or providing free cases to users who reported network issues, so be a keen whilst purchasing one! BTW Apple might solve this issue with Liquidmetal Technology.
