iPhone 4 to be Availablle to Verizon Customers Starting Feb 10; Pre-orders to begin on Feb 3

Verizon Wireless and Apple finally announced that the iPhone 4 will be available on the Verizon Wireless network after all starting February 10. Qualified VZW customers will be given an opportunity to pre-order iPhone 4 online on February 3, ahead of general availability. The device can be yours for a suggested retail price of $199.99 for the 16GB model and $299.99 for the 32GB model with a new two year customer agreement.

VZW has earlier announced a special media event for the press and it proved to be a strictly VZW event. This is what happened:

  • As expected, VZW introduced the iPhone 4 for their network.
  • We repeat VZW introduced the iPhone 4, not Apple. Steve Jobs was also conspicuous by his absence. It was Tim Cook from Apple at the event.
  • Verizon clarifed it will not support LTE. Remember when the company started an LTE network, everyone assumed the iPhone could move over to a 4G network? Those rumors were well… rumors. Some find that strange because VZW ensured its 4G LTE network was prominently promoted at the CES. That their iPhone will not support it is curious.

The picture may get clearer in the weeks to come. As of today, VZW customers can be happy their much-awaited iPhone 4 will be in their hands soon. Here’s what makes the phone such a craze:

  • Features Apple’s Retina display
  • A beautiful glass and stainless steel design
  • FaceTime, making video calling a reality
  • 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, HD video recording
  • Apple’s A4 chip
  • A 3-axis gyro
  • iOS 4 mobile OS that includes multitasking, AirPlay, folders, Game Center, AirPrint wireless printing.
  • Access to popular App Store

New to the iPhone 4 on VZW is its Personal Hotspot capabilities that will allow customers to use the device to connect up to 5 Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
