Untethered Userland Jailbreak for iPhone and iPod Touch on 3.1.3 Firmware
Recently we have seen a “Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, 2G and iPad” Video from GeoHot which proved that he was successful in breaking the latest 3.1.3 firmware. But the jailbreak is not released as he was looking for the release of the Apple iPad and the latest 3.2 Firmware. And now a hacker “comex” has come with Userland Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3. Userland jailbreak is a browser based method to Jailbreak your iPhone.
Comex has showed a Untethered Jailbreak for 3.1.3 Firmware on iPod Touch 3G. Moreover both MuscleNerd and p0sixninja confirmed the legitimacy of the Jailbreak. So we now we are very much confirmed that a complete Jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3 would be coming very soon. The reason for the delay in the 3.1.3 Jailbreak Tools is that everyone is waiting for the new 3.1.4 or the 3.2 Firmware to be released. If the tools are released before that Apple might close the loopholes in the latest iPhone Firmware.
The video from comex shows a Untethered Userland Jailbreak similar to the iPhone 1.x style. Sadly no ETA has been given by him on the 3.1.3 Untethered Jailbreak. There are also many chances that Apple would close this userland exploit in the upcoming iPhone OS 3.1.4 or 3.2.
