New Features for iPad 2: Likely to Feature USB Port, Video Phone and 3 Axis Gyroscope

Expectations are rife with news of imminent release of an improved iPad version 2 from Apple, possibly within the next 6 months. There are rumours galore that Apple will introduce some revolutionary features in this iPad.

The Chinese Economy Daily News (EDN) published from Taiwan predicts that the new iPad 2 will have the following features :

  • A USB Port
  • Improved display technology
  • Lowered weight, slimline design
  • Video phone and built-in front and rear cameras
  • 3 axis gyroscope

While the first four may be welcome improvements, one is yet to see what the 3 axis gyroscope will do for users other than in gaming apps. Apple may also incorporate its proprietary retina display technology. Tablet markets are hotting up and Apple, as usual will go the mile to maintain its lead with hardware and software modifications updated at regular intervals.

If news about the USB port is true then it would open up doors to usage of third party peripherals and accessories which, hitherto, could not be used due to absence of this port.

What people would really welcome would be for Apple to make it slimmer and lighter and if they are going to do this as rumors suggest, then it is a welcome piece of news.
