Want information about target host, DNS records and open TCP ports, or maybe information about your own machine? The portable program vTrace will come in handy.

vTrace is a freeware visual traceroute application. It helps to analyze about a host by combining tools like ping, whois, nslookup, netstat and tracerout into a graphical interface. This may be useful in identifying and locating servers and routers to pin down a slowdown or outrage.

The interface is simple to use and in fact, most of the tools can used instantly, by specifying the host name and pressing the ‘Go’ button. Traceroute and ping commands offer text-based as well as visual information on connections. The program also enables download of a geographical database. The Whois information supports important location registries. The port scan can be used to find open ports.
