Gmail Mobile Now Gets Faster Address Auto-Completion & Keyboard Shortcuts

Written By Sam on 11 June 2009

Google has released two important updates to the Mobile version of Gmail. The new features – Keyboard shortcuts and address auto-complete will speed up your experience on Google Mobile. As of now Google is limiting the features to Android phones with a physical keyboard. You don’t have to learn anything new about these features as they are same that you use for the desktop version. For example: while reading an email, to return back to your inbox you can press ‘u’ and to move to the next conversation you need to press ‘n’.

The next improvement for Gmail Mobile is the faster address auto-completion which is available to everyone and it saves time too. As soon as you type just one letter of the email address, this feature retrieves the names from your contacts. Gmail Mobile quickly displays the contacts and this process is sped up by reusing previously fetched matches in subsequent searches. Auto-completion works only when you compose the mail in the ‘to’ field. This will not work for either Google Search or Gmail Search.

Visit from your Mobile Browser, and try out Gmail for Mobile. This version supports iPhone/iPod Touch OS 2.2.1 or above and it also works on all Android-powered devices.
