Heard of SuperOneClick? It is the Xda-developers’ latest one-click rooting method. A free, Windows only download, it is reported to work on all Android phones except seven models including the Aria, EVO, Desire, Droid Eris, Wildfire, Droid Incredible and T-Mobile G2. However, there is a way around for all those models, except T-Mobile G2, as they can be rooted with Unrevoked.
And this is essentially what you need to do:
Pre-requisite: An account at the XDA-Developers forums to download the app
- Step 1: Download the SuperOneClick.zip file to your Windows computer
- Step 2: Put your phone in USB debugging mode3 (Settings -> Applications -> Development and check USB Debugging)
- Step 3: Plug it in
- Step 4: Open folder with SuperOneClick contents and double click ‘SuperOneClick.exe’
- Step 5: Allow the process to run and you are ready to go.
Just a note, you will have to umount your SD card before rooting with this app. For Linux users, the developers are understood to be working on a Linux version would be available in the next release. We don’t have any word on a Mac version yet.
