Opera Mini for iPhone With 6x Faster Speeds and 10x Smaller Data Traffic

Written By Sam on 10 February 2010

I was really delighted to hear that Opera is releasing their browser for the iPhone. Opera browser for Symbian mobiles is very popular with some very good features. Even the low-end Opera mini for java based phones is used by many people. And the same Opera with some fantastic features hitting the iPhone is really a very good news. Opera Software plans to reveal the Opera Mini for iPhone in an exclusive press and partner preview during the 2010 Mobile World Congress (MWC).

Personally Opera is my favorite browser on my Nokia 5800 as it has got very fantastic features like compression technology, Tabs, Speed Dial and the Password Manager. With all the advanced features Opera iPhone will definitely attract many iPhone/iPod Touch users. Opera says that the Opera Mini for iPhone offers up to 6 times faster download speeds than Apple’s own browser, and up to 10 times smaller data traffic. Though it looks very promising, I’m not sure how Apple will react to this browser which will definitely be a tough competitor to Apple Safari. We should also remember that Apple rejected Google Voice App by stating that it is just duplicating an inbuilt functionality. Even Opera for iPhone might be rejected with a similar reason. All we can do is just wait and see.
