The Samsung GT S5830 Galaxy S mini handset debuted with the tag of being an iPhone 4 lookalike. Its highlights are a 3.5 inch HVGA display, Android Froyo 2.2 OS and an 800 MHz CPU which make it blazing fast in operation. It is likely to be rechristened the Samsung Galaxy Cooper for sale in India and the Samsung Galaxy Ace in other parts of the world except a few South Asian countries.

The price may be around Rs. 17000 in India, making it extremely attractive when one considers the features packed into this smart device. It is definitely an improvement over the Galaxy 3GT S5800/GTS5801. Against their dimensions of 122.4×64.2×9.9mm, the new S5830 measures 112×59.9×11.5 mm. The S5830 weighs in at 113 g against the 119g of the previous models. The main attractive feature is its HVGA (320×480) 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen. From a distance one would be forgiven for mistaking it for an iPhone4.

It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7227-1 Turbo processor similar to the one used in the Xperia X10 Mini and MiniPro. It has a microSD card slot fitted with a 2GB card, expandable up to 32G.

The Galaxy Cooper runs on Android 2.2.1 Froyo with the TouchWiz 3.0 UI from Samsung overlaying it. There is a 5 MP camera with autofocus and LED Flash with video recording facility.

The Cooper supports quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks and has a speed of 7.2 MBPS for HSDPA data connections. It has Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n along with Bluetooth support and above all the Cooper offers an FM radio which feature is much appreciated in India.

As is to be expected from a phone in this category the Cooper integrates Gmail, Social Hub, google maps usable with A-GPS and the Android marketplace. SWYPE comes as a standard on its Android keyboard.
