The jailbreak utility GreenPois0n, is likely to be available for download soon which can jailbreak iOS 4.1. As the developer gives final touches to the tool, there is huge anticipation, what with social networking websites catching on the excitement. Greenpois0n will use the SHAtter-based exploit and is expected to enable users to jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 2G and iPad running on iOS 4.1 firmware.

Recently when Pod2g, who discovered the SHAtter exploit and 24Kpwn, had formally announced that he was no more the part of Chronic Dev Team, saying “I am an exploit maker, not a jailbreak tool developer,” reports claimed there was trouble in the jailbreak paradise. However, Pod2G is understood to have tweeted recently about the upcoming release of GreenPois0n and saying the tool should be available in the next few days, and not weeks as some reports claim.

Interestingly, p0sixninja, a member of the Chronic Dev Team, recently posted some new information on the iPhoneWiki website about the development of the upcoming release of a 4.1 jailbreak utility and mentioned in a recent tweet: “The SHAtter story begins… http://j.mp/9bkIwu.” The new Wiki entry tells us how posixninja and pod2g worked on exploiting vulnerabilities, and also the status of development, promising to add details on vulnerability and the SHAtter exploit soon. The credit bit says:

• Vulnerability: posixninja (May 7, 2010)
• Research: posixninja, pod2g, also MuscleNerd
• Exploit: pod2g (September 9, 2010)
• Greenpois0n Download (October)
