In an unexpected move just before the release of greenpois0n, GeoHot has released limera1n that can jailbreak iOS 4.1 on all the iDevices. You can now download limera1n to jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and iPad running on iOS 4.0 or iOS 4.1. Limera1n brings an untethered jailbreak for iDevices. So you don’t need to connect your iDevice to a computer every time you reboot it.

Currently limera1n is available for download for Windows OS only. Limera1n for Mac and Linux will be rolled out very soon. GeoHot says that limera1n is unpatchable and Apple TV is also supported apart from other iDevices. If you an iPod Touch 2G user then you need to wait for some more time so that the new version of limera1n will support it too. If you are a iPhone 3G user then you need to rely on redsn0w.
