Windows 7 RTM Availability Announced for MSDN, TechNet Subscribers on August 6

Are you waiting for The Windows 7 RTM? The Windows 7 team blog confirmed the dates when the Windows7 RTM will be available. Windows 7 RTM would be available depending on the group you belong to. Consumers, Beta Testers & Enthusiasts, Developers, IT Professionals, Business Customers, Partners & OEMs would be getting the Windows 7 on different dates.


Availability of Windows 7 RTM

For Partners & OEMs

From August 6th 2009, Windows 7 RTM can be downloaded from Microsoft connect or MSDN by ISV (independent software vendor) and IHV (independent hardware vendor) partners. If you are a partner who has been working on Windows 7, now its time to complete your testing with final version of windows 7. The Microsoft Partner Program Gold/Certified Members will be able to download Windows 7 RTM in English through MPN on August 16th. The remaining languages will be available for download by Oct 1st. OEMs will receive Windows 7 RTM images from approximately 2 days after the release of RTM officially, as it takes little time to release and distribute these images. Microsoft Action Pack Subscribers will be about to download Windows 7 RTM in English starting August 23rd and the remaining languages will be available by October 1st.

For Business Customers

The volume licensed (VL) customers with an existing Software Assurance (SA) license can download Windows 7 RTM in English starting from Aug 7th via Volume License Service Center (VLSC). VL customers without SA license should purchase Windows 7 through Volume Licensing on Sept 1st.

For IT Professionals

On august 6th, windows 7 RTM in English can be downloaded by IT professionals with TechNet Subscriptions and remaining languages by October 1st. For IT professionals to become experts on Windows 7, there are some resources available at Springboard Series.

For Developers

Developers with MSDN Subscriptions can download Windows 7 RTM in English on August 6th. Developers can take advantage of the features available on Windows 7 for updating the existing applications.

For Beta Testers & Enthusiasts

Beta testers will automatically receive a free copy of Windows 7. All the Technet subscribers can download Windows 7 RTM shortly after RTM happens for FREE as part of your subscription. If you don’t have TechNet and are waiting for GA, then you can continue the use of RC till it expires i.e.; June 1st, 2010. 40% of the beta testers are IT professionals which allows them to quickly access the RTM code and plan for deployments.

For Consumers

Windows 7 will be available in retail stores and shipping on new PCs starting from October 22nd. If pre-ordered then it should be delivered around October 22nd.

    I am eagerly awaiting the release of Windows Seven now that the prices are slashed very much.

    I am waiting for the calendar to turn October 22nd.
