Samsung and Google have finally announced the much-awaited Nexus S. Yes, just like that — no building up to the announcement or further hype created ahead of the announcement. As expected, the new handset comes toting Google’s swanky new Android 2.3 platform, code-named Gingerbread. So, one can expect some powerful technology and hardware features.

Nexus S flaunts Samsung’s Super AMOLED touch screen technology and a 4-inch contour display that features a curved design for a better feel when held to your face. Talk about ergonomic style. The phone touts Near Field Communication (NFC) technology which will allow users to read information off of everyday objects like stickers and posters that are embedded with NFC chips. The device has a 1 GHz Samsung application processor in its guts to support 3D graphics and HD-like multimedia content besides enabling faster upload and download times.

The handset comes with a 5MP rear-facing camera and camcorder, as well as a VGA front facing camera. As with most newly-launched smartphones, this one too features a gyroscope sensor for smoother gaming experience when a user tilts the device up or down or pans the phone to the left or right. Storage? Nexus S comes with 16 GB of internal memory.
