INQ Cloud Touch on Android To Release Soon; Dubbed as First Dedicated Facebook Phone

There were reports in September 2010 that INQ, a London-based firm was developing phones (QWERTY as well as touchscreen smartphones) with special emphasis on Facebook. Now, the INQ Cloud Touch phone has received Bluetooth certification and is likely to be released in early 2011.

The INQ Cloud Touch runs on Android and will reportedly deliver messages faster. The company has revealed the design is ergonomic and built on the way people naturally communicate. Facebook takes center stage in this phone as is evidenced by the multiple pointers to various Facebook functions. At the same time, a dynamic widget onscreen displays a feed of status updates, videos, photos and updates.

The pictures may make it out to be a QWERTY model but it could just as well be a touchscreen with typical Swype like input. However, it is labeled the Cloud Touch and hence it is expected to be a touchscreen model.

It might seem strange though that the company has removed the official name and replaced it with a model number T2-219U and has also removed references to Facebook in the certification records filed with Bluetooth SIG.
