How To Unlock iPhone 4 On iOS 5 Beta Using Gevey Ultra SIM

Written By Sam on 25 July 2011

Apple has recently released iOS 5 Beta 4 for all those iOS developers who are registered to the Apple Developer Program. Before the Beta 4, Apple also released iOS 5 Beta 3, iOS 5 Beta 2 and iOS 5 Beta 1. Though iOS 5 Beta is available to only those developers who have their UDID registered, many users have downloaded it from the Internet, installed and activated it. If you were on earlier iOS 4.x and rely on Gevey Ultra SIM for unlock then you would have noticed that, once you install iOS 5 Beta, your baseband on iPhone 4 will be upgrade to either 04.11.04 or 04.11.06 and you loose the unlock. But luckily here is a little work around which will help you to downgrade iPhone 4 baseband and make your Gevey Ultra SIM work for you. As Apple is still signing the iOS 4.3.4 firmware, you can downgrade your iOS 5 Beta firmware back to iOS 4.3.4 and get back to the old 04.10.01 baseband which is supported by Gevey Ultra SIM.

Unlock iPhone 4 On iOS 5 Beta With Gevey SIM

  • Step 1: Downgrade your iPhone 4 from iOS 5 Beta 4 to iOS 4.3.4 to downgrade your baseband from 04.11.06 to 4.10.01 with this Guide.
  • Step 2: Create a custom firmware while preserving the baseband for your iPhone 4 using Sn0wbreeze based on your iOS 5 Beta version.
  • Step 3: Now restore your iPhone 4 with the custom firmware created with sn0wbreeze.
  • Step 4: Now follow this guide to use Gevey SIM and unlock your iPhone 4 on iOS 5 Beta. Also if you have Gevey Ultra, install FuriousMod.deb to avoid manual calls to 112.

The Gevey Ultra seems to work pretty well without too many hits. It also does the unlocking process automatically for you but your device must be jailbroken for it to do so.
I got mine here : highly recommend this gevey ultra, you won’t regret to purchase this.
