Ultrasn0w to Unlock iPhone 3GS, 3G on iOS 4.1, 4.2; Set to Release in Few Days

Written By Sam on 1 November 2010

For iPhone 3G & iPhone 3GS users stuck with baseband 05.14.02, there is good news from MuscleNerd, a member of the iPhone Dev-Team. In response to a query posted by one of his Twitter followers, MuscleNerd has confirmed that Ultrasn0w will be able to help users unlock their iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G on iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2. And they won’t have to wait for long because MuscleNerd also added the new release should be released within a day or two after Apple makes the iOS 4.2 public.

@simplysaru if you’re on 3G or 3GS, just a day or 2 at most after 4.2 is public (just enough time to verify stuff)

@MuscleNerd thanks.. how long would the wait be for 4.2 any approximate time

MuscleNerd also responded to a separate tweet by Nadimnakade…

@nadimnakade we have an unlock for that, but gotta wait til next cat&mouse from Apple (official 4.2)

@MuscleNerd When is official 4.2 gonna release?is it early Nov?

For the uninitiated, Apple is expected to release its iOS 4.2 this month. For those planning to unlock their device, it would be wise not to upgrade their phones to iOS 4.2 as upgrading it will upgrade their baseband and they may not be able to unlock their phones later. Instead they would do well to wait for the release of the new version of Ultrasn0w. Stay tuned for more.
