It looks like many users who have got their iPhone 4 are not really happy as the device is loosing the reception when left hand corner is touched. Many users are stating that touching the lower left corner of the iPhone 4 consistently drops the calls. Most of them think that the issue is caused because of the new way in which the antenna is mounted on the iPhone 4.

Though many are complaining about call dropping issue on iPhone 4 as hardware problem, there are some who report that this might be a software bug in iOS 4. Some users are facing the similar issue with iPhone 3G, which confirms that call dropping issue is not a hardware related problem but software related one.

Moreover Apple has released a formal statement saying that “Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases“.
