USB 3.0 RAID Drive Now Updated to Higher Speeds by Super Talent Firmware

Fast is always getting faster, especially in the computing field; so it is not exciting when someone announces a faster device. Users are now almost blasé about such announcements. However, they are expected to sit up and take notice of this latest development from Super Talent Technology.

Super Talent Technology is a player in Flash storage and DRAM modules and already had a USB 3.0 RAID DRIVE on the market. Now, we have news that this fast device has been speeded up still more with a firmware update to gain a competitive edge on its rivals in the marketplace. This is rather unusual since USB drives are rarely, if ever, updated.

It seems they have taken full advantage of the 2nd generation USB 3.0 technology host controllers enabling the RAID DRIVE to transfer data at astonishing operating speeds of 370Mb/sec. The increase in speed is well over 55 Mb/sec. Tests were carried out using the new Fresco Logic FL1009B. As expected all USB 3.0 drives are backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports at USB 2.0 speeds. This technological firmware update is patented under US patent # 7457897.

Super Talent has a range of USB 3.0 flash drives ranging from the economical Express DUOTM to the RAIDDRIVE which is the fastest of the lot. It will be some time before the competition catches up.

That is fast by today’s standards.
