Samsung introduces the latest Blu-ray disc(BD) Combo, the SH-B123 optical disk drive (ODD) which reads BD-ROMs at the fastest speed of up to 12X, DVDs at the maximum speed of 16X and CDs at a speed of 48X. Now the latest Blu-ray drive lets you watch HD movies on PCs and also record HD camcorder movies. Moreover it allows HDTV broadcasting on DVDs with Samsung’s Cyberlink Power Producer software which is offered in the BD combo package.

Using the BD combo drive, you can read BD disc, read and write CD/DVD discs which grants the users a wide choice of HD movie sources on their computers. The two lenses and two laser diode structure provides stable BD read, DVD and CD read/ write performance. Using this lenses and laser diode structure you get a high reliability in BD play performance. Qualities of the Read function of the BD drives are enhanced by SACT (Spherical Abberation Compensation Technology) in case protective layer do not have uniform thickness. Besides this position control is optimized by PSCT (Precision Step Control Technology) for the optical pick-up feature that needs small track pitch of BD drives.

You can also upgrade DVD resolution movies to full HD resolution using Samsung’s Cyberlink Trutheater technology. By activating the Cyberlink BD advisor which is existing in the package and through the Cyberlink homepage, PCs can be checked whether they are Blu-ray activated.

Similar to Samsung ODDs, the BD drive is also eco friendly. To have a low acoustic noise the BD drive features Aerodynamic Frame Design. And also when compared with other drives in market, it functions at a low power consumption level, 25 percent lower power than the others. There is a major enhancement in the lead time, which reduces the overall timeline 17 percent to 37 percent over the earlier models. They had used the lead-free soldering technology to create the SH-B 123 BD combo. The manufacture of the drives is in compliance with international regulations, hence usage of materials Pb, Cd, Cr+6, Hg, PBBs and PBDE are restricted.

The BD Combo provides a variety of speeds across different data media types including: 12X BD-ROM read, 8x BD R/RE/DL read, 48X CD-ROM, 40X CD-RW, 16X DVD±R recording, 12X DVD-RAM recording, 8X DVD±R Dual Layer recording, 8X DVD+RW recording and 6X DVD-RW recording.

Samsung’s new BD combo, the SH-B123, will be released across the globe in July 2010.
